You Are What You Eat!
You Are What You Eat!
By: Dr. Alan Rosenthal
In today’s society of fast, prepared and processed foods, we face a growing problem of under-nourishment. Food that is deficient in nutrients (i.e.: vitamins, minerals, and food enzymes) is continually produced and sold.
Failing Nutrition
No doubt, the decreased quality of our food has happened because of the marketing of more desirable foods that are supposedly quicker to prepare and have better taste. Now, we need to think seriously about what we eat if we want to decrease health problems that have been created because of our failing nutrition.
Foods like Pop Tarts, doughnuts, many breakfast cereals, Pizza Pockets, most fried foods, and drinks like soda, Sunny Delight and Kool-Aid have next to no nutrition and are harmful to our health. Whatever happened to people eating apples, bananas, oranges, carrots, broccoli, etc?
What Is Proper Nutrition?
There are four cornerstones to having health naturally:
- Proper nerve supply
- Regular exercise
- Sufficient rest and
- Proper nutrition
To have a diet that is 100% in quality and in satisfying your body’s needs, you have to have a diet that is 100% natural. Our diet needs to consist of all whole foods that come from what grows in the ground or from what walks upon the earth. These foods must be 100% natural with no herbicides or pesticides and no foods that have been filled with repetitive doses of antibiotics or steroids. If what ever you eat has added salt, sugar, food coloring or fat, then you are eating foods that are deficient in vitamins and minerals.
What We Can Do
If we eat only natural foods that have not been tampered with, we would get all the nutrients that we were designed to get. Unfortunately, for the vast majority of Americans, that is far from the truth. Too many people eat and drink foods that have been altered and no longer have the proper balance of nutrition.
Preparing whole foods are easy and full of taste. Giving our children healthy will make a big difference in how they learn and play at school and in their overall development. The most amazing thing about good nutrition is that healthier lunches are less expensive to purchase than the unhealthy ones.
